Overbehave number 3

The first two key steps to feel comfortable as a remote employee are as follows:

  1. Schedule more meetings with your supervisor than you might initially think is necessary.
  2. Arrange periodic meetings with various colleagues throughout the company.

I began to feel empowered and comfortable in my remote work environment when I adopted a third strategy: maintaining a network outside of my current company. This can include staying in touch with former colleagues from past jobs or educational experiences, or even forming new connections in your field.

Remote work does have its advantages, such as eliminating the need for commuting and professional attire. I suggest reallocating some of the money saved from these eliminated costs toward sustaining your external network. Ultimately, having a broad network will serve you well, providing a support system you can rely on for various types of assistance.
