over behaving

I work remotely.

Everybody's calendar is full of meetings, whether in-person or virtual. What I just wrote includes my case as well.

Sitting at my desk, I created a flow of thought that led me to think how annoying it has to be for other people if I could add another meeting to their schedule.

My default work mode before this position has always been in person. For the past thirty years, most of my life has been in person.

I would like to update my beliefs now, at least for one scenario.

The few minutes conversation at lunchtime, the extra minutes in the corridor, and the exchange of ideas at the end of the day with my team and my supervisor, I do not get to achieve those.

I think the solution is to over-behave. I now try to redirect those minutes in random encounters into scheduled events in calendars. It may look weird, but being in a remote work position, there are extra weights to lift.

There is always a caveat, the path of minimum resistance is always to not schedule a meeting.
