Equal time

Many times I heard that we all have the same amount of hours each day.

On one hand, that is true, living on earth, we all move across space at the same speed so that we get to experience the same quantity of seconds each day at the same rate.

I read the first sentence above in many places where they are trying to motivate you to pursue a goal bigger than yourself. A phrase to help you break through. It implies that it does not matter where you are coming from, you can own a place at the top.

I do think that everyone deserves a place a the top, but I do not necessarily think that means fame or money. It somehow means happiness or eudaimonia but at the same time not; listen to this episode of Seth Goding.

For a long while, I believed what I read – I think it had to do with me being trapped within my own confines.

The person who needs to commute long hours to arrive at their place of study does not have the same equal amount of free hours a day as the person who by chance and opportunity can spend more time thinking.

The person who is in a caregiver role and that needs to spend extra hours working to sustain a family or to help an elder or an ill person, does not have the same amount of hours as the people that enjoy a wealth of healthiness.

I am not trying to rise hatred towards those in privilege, since I belong to this latter group. All I am trying to outline is that not everyone has the same effective hours each day, and opportunities and privileges open doors and passively shut them to others.

The other important thing to write about is that I could not notice this fact until recently. How many more illusions are there in my mind?
